What is GPS?
GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It consists of a constellation of 28+ satellites orbiting the earth owned and operated by the US Department of Defense. A GPS receiver receives signals from GPS Satellites and by tuning into signals from three or more of these satellites, it can compute its precise position on earth (latitude & longitude) as well as other parameters such as time-of-day, speed, direction, etc
How accurate is GPS?
GPS signals available to civilian GPS receivers can be used to compute a position within 10 meters (33 feet) most of the time. GPS receivers need signals from three or more satellites to compute its position and, in general, this requires that an antenna be connected to the GPS receiver and placed within clear view of the sky. GPS reception may be inconsistent under certain conditions, such as: (a) Indoors, in parking garages, etc. (b) Urban canyons, near tall buildings, etc
How does your system work?
The Shadow Tracker® Vision™ II first determines its location from the GPS Satellites and then transmits the information through a cellular network to our servers. This transmission occurs every 10 seconds. Once the data is stored on our servers, our proprietary software allows you to review your current location and history.
What happens if my unit goes out of cell coverage?
ATTI utilizes an on board memory to store all movements outside of cellular coverage (up to 98 hours). Once the unit returns to coverage, all the information is uploaded for historical records so no data is lost.
How easy is it to install?
Installing a GPS device is simple. The basic installation consists of three cables that have to be connected and placing the GPS antenna: Red cable: Constant 12V, Black cable: Ground, Green Cable: Ignition
The GPS device can easily be installed in a discrete location for concealment. Many companies that offer professional audio equipment installations can also install GPS devices. We can provide you with a list of contacts that will be happy to provide this service.
How current are your maps?
ATTI uses Microsoft’s Virtual Earth® advanced mapping and satellite imagery for our Shadow Tracker® Live Software. Virtual Earth® is a web-based application that updates every time you log in. Virtual Earth® combines information from various geo-locations and traffic monitoring organizations to continuously update their information, even providing you with up-to-date traffic information.
Why is your system so much less than every other unit I have looked at?
ATTI designs, engineers, and manufactures all of the products that we sell. When you buy a unit from us, you are buying directly from the manufacturer - no mark-up required for the middleman.
